Deva Snana Purnima 2
Of the blue foams you emerged in the form of a
timber,
Viswakarma, the artisan of the
paradise sculpted your figure.
As Jagannath, Balabhadra, Subhdra
and Sudarshana you descend on the soil,
To protect the virtuous and punish
the sinful.
King Indradyumna, your great
devotee did a favor to this nation,
Enshrined you with great honor,
passion and devotion.
To commemorate your arrival with
your brother and sister,
He began the Snana Yatra on the
holy day of your appearance on the shore.
The servitors carry you from the Ratnavedi to the
Snana Mandap in a grand procession.
The master of the universe adorn Snana Mandap, the
bathing stage,
Bestowing tactile, visual, audible pleasure to his
devotees.
It looks like you alight in the form of a dark
cloud on the earth,
To relieve your believers from the torments of the
summer warmth.
And bring along the sun and the moon to deliver a
message to the crowd,
That you are the source of their prosperity and
the key of the peace of their minds.
Your colors also symbolize the three races;
Negroids, Europeans and Mongoloiads
Justifying your name, “Jagannath”, “lord of the universe”
master of the mankind
Your black color and half-craved body give us a
message,
That no matter how one looks like, the world
worship one’s deeds and qualities.
Your ever open deep eyes reminds us of the truth that,
Nothing can be hidden from you, so we should be
good in our conduct.
Your ever spread out arms invites us to come to
your shade,
Whenever we get disillusionment from this unreal
and transitory world.
JAI JAGANNATH.
