REPLY TO YOUR CONSCIENCE

Within the territory of  your wise-ness,

Behind the opaque curtain of your annoyance,

There lives a soft and benevolent heart,

Busy writing verses for your appeasement.

For all his songs what did he expect from you?

What he demanded for his devotion towards you?

Truth in your words because he loves truthfulness,

Honesty in your behaviour as he likes honest approaches,

Openness for the one, who is never secretive, fraudulent,

Selflessness for the one who thinks of your comfort first.

He gave you a heaven and expected you to reign on it,

Treated you as a goddess, wished divinity in your acts.

You preferred to desert his heart,

You opted to falsify his trust.

Were truth and honesty beyond your reach?

Are selflessness and openness for you mere speeches?

Was it a little too much in this bad world? 

Was it unaffordable for you, so you fled?

He does not need an answer for all these,

You reply to your own conscience.

सच आप को आता नहीं,

झूठ हम को भाता नहीं,

खुल कर कहना आप सीखे ही नहीं 

छल करना हमें जीवन ने सिखाया ही नहीं ,

स्वार्थपरता हम को आई नहीं,

निस्वार्थ सोच आप  से हुआ नहीं,

फिर क्या होना था ?

आप को चले जाना था,

हमें  तनहा रह जाना था।
