MY PRUDENCE समझदारी

मैने कौआ को मोर पंख में सजा कर खूवसुरत बनाना चाहा,
गधे पर जीन चढा कर दौड में आजमाकर देखना चाहा। 

कोइला को दुध से धो कर सफेदी लाने की प्रयास की,

मछली को इत्र में नहलाकर सुबासीत रखने की आस की। 

मैनें बारबाला से भजन सुनने  की मांग कर दी, 

बंदर को चंदन की खेती की जिम्मेदारी दे दी। 

मवेसी को फुलों की खुसबु लेने बगिचा में छोड आया, 

बेवडों की महफिल में भागवत कथा पढने बैठ गया। 

मैंने उनसे निस्वार्थ, निष्कपट  दोस्ती निभाने की उम्मीद रख ली,
मेरा हर सच के बदले उनसे ईमानदारी की चाह रख ली।

फिर तुम कहो  मेरी तक़दीर  में क्या होना था?

मुझे अपनी सरलता और वेवकूफी  पर रोना था।

To beautify a crow, I planted on it peacock wings,
   I saddled a donkey and tried her in a racing.

I scrubbed a peace of coal with milk to make it white,
Expected fragrance from a fish by dipping it in scent.

I urged a bar-dancer to sing a prayer for me,
Entrusted care of sandalwood saplings to a monkey.

Left a cow in my garden to take fragrance of the flowers
Chanted  the Bhagawat Geeta in a congregation of tipplers.

I desired a selfless, honest and pious friendship with her,
My trust, truth, love expected from her a truthful demeanor. 

Tell me what was to become of a foolish man as me,
I was to cry over my simplicity and you can say stupidity.
